Shannon Freud: Psychotherapist
Shannon has a Masters in Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University, and has been working as a child and youth counsellor for over 10 years, with a diverse population. Many of the children and youth with whom she has worked have struggled with mental health challenges – some diagnosed, others not. In her experience with them, a common issue has been how the families cope with their children’s issues. As a result, she hopes to reach those family members… help them find their way as they support their loved ones.
With a Masters of Social Work degree, registration with the College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, and membership with the Ontario Association of Social Workers (the two regulating bodies for the social work profession), she practices professionally, with knowledge, accountability and experience. Some areas of expertise and research have been immigrant youth and self harming behaviours, addictions, and the connection between attachment theory and mindfulness. She also has experience working with people with mental health diagnoses such as eating disorders, depression and anxiety, mood and thought disorders, psychosis and addictions.
She is excited to be a part of the team at Transense. If you read about her, but don't have children, and feel that you might be a good fit, she'd still love to hear from you! You can reach her at Shannon_freud@yahoo.ca or by calling/texting at 647-405-1046
