About Sarah
I am an Art Therapist, a mother and step-mother. I have first hand experience with the shock of acquiring an instant family, the growing pains of becoming a parent and the loss of self-identitiy that often arises.
In my 8 years of experience, I have practiced throughout Toronto in many different agencies, such as Ronald MacDonald House Toronto and with teen parents at a variety of youth shelters in the GTA, like Eva's and Sketch. I have worked with clients coping with issues such as loss, grief, isolation, anxiety disorders, helplessness, identity issues, poverty, mental illness, and addiction.
I have used the creative arts to reach out to the clients of each facility with enormous success.
Baby Blues
This group will focus on identifying and preserving the old self-image and assimilating the new. Finding degrees of comfort in our new roles as parents and helping to shape the skills and perspective of our previous lives to help step in to our new roles. The group offers the strengths of the arts to allow transformation, and the community of group work to provide support from those that understand us best, other new parents. In this group, each participant is both part of the support system and the supported.
Babies are welcome, as they are now an integral part of our lives, it is key to learn how to be creative in their presence. Creative arts is both inclusive to the babies or can be done alone. Safe products used.
